Shirley Wong is a full time circus artist specializing in aerial acrobatics. Originally trained at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, she danced professionally from 2007 to 2011 before discovering aerial in 2012. Known for her dynamic quality and authentic style, her personal works spans across aerial rope, silks and the multicorde; masterfully blending contemporary artistry with circus.

As one of Asia’s leading aerial performer and coach, Shirley has performed in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Hungary; with teaching experiences across Asia, Europe, Australia, Mexico and America. She hopes to continue sharing her love for aerial while inspiring audiences through this expressive art form.

Coming all the way from Singapore, Shirley (@shirleyaerialist) leads a 3-hour morning workshop designed for Intermediate+ to Advanced aerialists. This session focuses on rolling technique and her signature moves—perfect for those looking to add fluidity, seamless transitions, and personal style to their aerial silks practice. Participants will explore rolling transitions in and out of skills, creative wraps, roll entries, and smooth pathways that connect rolling movement with intention. Shirley will also share her signature tricks and unique choreography, helping you develop a more connected and expressive aerial vocabulary.

Requirements

⚠️ Caution: This is NOT a beginner workshop!
You need to already have solid experience with aerial silks.

Students should be comfortable with climbing and inverting on silks, and be confident with hanging in the air for 2+ minutes to work on moves. Experience with executing common basic drops safely is expected, along with familiarity with basic entries such as catchers, hip key, S-wrap, front balance, and back balance (they don't have to be perfect!). Previous experience with C-shaping is helpful but not required.

Workshop 2 - Sequencing & Spins

In the evening, Shirley offers a 2-hour workshop for Intermediate to Intermediate+ aerialists, centering on sequencing and spins. This session is ideal for those who want to expand their routine vocabulary while learning how to weave spinning elements into longer, fluid sequences. Participants will work on spin entries, transitions, creative wraps, and short performable combinations that highlight choreography and flow. The focus is on clean technique, control, and building expressive, connected sequences that feel graceful and dynamic.
